Marquez vs Pacquiao II: Highlights (HBO Boxing)

I think Marquez is the only opponent of Pacquiao who is not afraid to throw punches while Pacquiao is on the offensive. His counterpunching is fitting for Pacman. Most of Pacquiao's opponents wait for him to reload after throwing 4-7 combinations, but Marquez does not wait for Pacquiao to reload; he throws punches while Pacman is firing away. This style, coupled with his chin and heart, makes him a tough opponent for Pacquiao. And Marquez was avoided by Morales and Barrera during this period because they knew he was a dangerous opponent, but only Pacman has the guts to face him because he is a hungry beast.

Maybe if Pacquiao hadn't faced Marquez, we might never have witnessed the legendary 8th division. Pacquiao's skills and IQ evolve with every tough opponent, thanks to Freddie and Pacman's determination and hardworking mindset.

Marquez was the superior boxer in offense and defense. Pacquiao was the superior boxer using both at the same time.

Best combination puncher (Pacman) versus the best counter puncher (Marquez) of their era. This fight was close but the early knockdown proved to be the difference. They both rocked each other with hard shots. Their first 2 fights were too close to call. Manny should have technically won their first fight but one judge didn't know he could score it 10-6 (he scored it 10-7) and that proved to be the difference between a draw and split decision. The 3rd fight could have went either way, flip a coin and that would have been your winner. But they gave the majority decision to Manny. Their 4th fight was the most brutal, violent fight I have ever seen. Marquez knocked Manny down for the first time in Round 3 with a ranging overhand right. Manny broke Marquez nose pretty good, too. But at the end, Marquez caught Manny with the greatest straight right counter punch in the history of boxing. Marquez was more determined, more prepared, more hungry, and wanted to win more than anything and he did just that. There will never be another quadriology like this again in boxing. They brought out the best in each other. 2 legends. Although Manny was knocked out, he wasn't done with boxing. I believe the brutal KO by Marquez helped Manny prolong his career, as he'd go on to have many more awesome bouts, but this time with a new approach to boxing...he became more cautious and more of a boxer versus puncher.

A Legend Was Born

This was the version of pacquiao that was hungry. I don’t feel his hunger and excitement on their 3rd and 4th match. He should have stopped the excessive rematch.
