Turkish belly dancing is wild. It has been strongly influenced by the Romani people and by ancient Goddess worshiping cultures. And its high-skilled movements and alluring costumes seemingly make it one of the most fixating styles of belly dances. Didem Kinali is a world-renowned Turkish belly dancer; she is famous for her marvelous skills, beautiful face and elegant figure. She came to Shanghai this summer, and many belly dancing fans were excited to watch authentic Turkish belly dancing and to learn from her.

Wish she had the coins around her waist, that would've been nice! in turkey our belly dancers wear gold coin chain around their waist and when they dance it makes a jingle with the beat which is cool xD

Belly dancing aint for men so im not sure this are fake news or made by hollywood 1% gay TV im refering to the intro, anyway its a beautiful art form performed by WOMENS! there is no way in hell the Arab world has men bellydancing that an American thing, just need to say that CCTV should do a research before doing Hollywoods bidding.

First of all Turkey is a liberal country. So it is not a crime! She means it is seen as something shameful. Most of Turkish women dont cover up. Most of my friends post pictures of them in bikini on IG. They drink alcohol, most of them have premarital sex.(including me) They are all okay with Latin dances like Bachata, Salsa etc. In weddings, parties we all do belly dancing. BUT professional belly dancing is considered taboo. People may slut shame you thanks to TVs who use almost naked belly dancers to get views, getting belly dancers on new year eve programs, having belly dancers who just do shaking ass but nothing else at bachelor parties of men, again belly dancers who dont dance but just grinding and cursing at men in hostess clubs(it is called "pavyon" in Turkey). Being a belly dancer has become a taboo. Also some Western wannebes see it alaturca, so they dont go to courses learn it or they are satisfied with just shaking ass on parties. Belly dancing = göbek atmak(shaking belly) in Turkey. It is performed by both men and women culturally. Thats all. I couldnt find a fulfilling belly dance course in Ankara. They are all serving Latin dances and other Western style dances. Also the ones on comments who say it is not a part of turkish culture you are all brainwashed I am sorry. Shaking it off is a part of Anatolian culture. From Egypt to Bulgaria. Turkey has hundreds of traditional dances. Yes hundreds.. "Göbek atmak" Anadolu kültürüdür. Hangi ülkede bu kadar çeşit geleneksel dans var? Hepsi bize ait. Ama nedense gözümüz hep dışarda. Hiç kendi kültürümüze, müziklerimize sahip çıktığımiz yok.

Didem hoş kızsın. Dansta bi numarasın tamam ama öyle bi anlatmışsınki sanki dansedeni yakalyıp içeri atıyorlar. Senin dansına kim karışır. Sadece insanların eğilimleri zevkleri değişti eskisi kadar ilgi görmüyorsunuz hepsi bu.

In the Harem of Ottoman Empire, there were not belly dance. That's only dream of foreigners. Belly dance is an Arabic and Persian tradition.
