Cover with heavy-duty aluminum foil and poke 10 slits in the top with a knife.Place the bowl over medium heat and shake constantly using a pair of tongs to hold the bowl. Continue shaking until the popcorn finishes popping, approximately 3 minutes.Remove the bowl from the heat and carefully remove the foil. Stir in any salt that is on the side of the bowl.Melt the butter in the microwave. Slowly drizzle over the popcorn, while spinning the bowl. If the kernels are at their optimum moisture content between 12% and 14%, the steam released with each kernel's explosion helps with the setting off of other kernels... Steam is actually super heated water This is why stale popcorn kernels do not pop as efficiently/as big and fluffy and more wasted kernels are left over... The perfect moisture content kernel will explode at approximately 135 psi and release steam that is around 360 degrees... and this guy thinks he knows something about popcorn.... In a blind test, I defy ANYONE to tell MY microwaved popcorn being inferior in any way to THIS guy's popcorn... I was making great popcorn long before this cat was even born or when microwaves were in homes... The trick is having proper moisture content and that can only be determined by popping it...

Your not supposed to cook with oil it goes rancid when heated. Only cook with fat or coconut oil

Thank you Mr Brown, you never fail me. This worked like a charm! I love popcorn…. I remember when this first aired (a long time ago). Didn’t pay any attention back then, but I stumbled across this old episode (of one of my FAVORITE shows back in the day) and decided to try it out and has my favorite snack this afternoon!! Thank you again, sir. I miss your scientific dissection of cooking.

That's ridiculous if it takes that much time and effort he's doing it wrong! I make the best popcorn without all his theatrics. I never shake it and never have left over unpopped kernels.
Butter is no good for you. I use the best oil and the most nutritious oil and best tasting oil. You know what it is!
