Portal | Animation
Two people are just walking around when suddenly a portal opens right in front of them. Or at least, what appears to be a portal.. What could be on the other side? The word "portal" in science fiction and fantasy generally refers to a technological or magical doorway that connects two distant locations separated by spacetime. But don't take my word for it. Because it's not my word. It's Wikipedia's words: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Portals... So.. this animation took some time to make.. Initially I was creating another abstract animation, but I kinda cancelled that one. Instead, I used when I had created so far to create the visual of the portal. I've also been playing around with machine learning lately. This animation contains some of the things I've been experimenting with. Some are more obvious, like the new auto lip-sync feature in Animate. I created my own workflow around it, as it is far from perfect out of the box. I was able to get some nice results by using 2 graphics for the mouth: one for the contents (tongue, teeth, etc) and one for the shape, which I used as a mask. Finally, I broke apart the mask layer and added shape tweens in-between. Finally finally, I edited some of the frames manually.. The sound and music contain things I generated using WaveNet (or at least an implementation of it), such as part of the the beat in scene 1 and the piano music in scene 2. The very first line the character says I generated with Torch-RNN, which was trained on a large dataset of song lyrics. I edited it to make it impossible to understand, but the words were: "The sun, the stars and something to be a ring".. Some sound effects by: http://www.freesfx.co.uk Did you like this video?
