I have a Mauser K98 Sporterized, I bought it that way. How can I find out the year it was made. The serial numbers matched but is being scrubbed, so I don't know how to date it. By looking at teh butt stock, it does have a sling ring and the sling bar. It does not have the bolt disassembly ring. I could take pictures of the rifle for you to see.

I have a question about the 1931 K29 short rifle in your video. I have one as well. One thing I noticed about the Polish crests on the 1931 versions (from comparing mine with several other examples posted on the internet) is that the Polish crest, date, and FB Radom stamp are not perfectly aligned at the "12-o-clock" position of the receiver and slightly off to the right. I find it interesting that this production error doesn't show up on 1930 produced rifles nor 1932 and beyond. I am curious if yours has this off-set stamping as well.

I got from my father that was in WWII a 1936 Radon 8mm mauser. It had a sporterized stock put on after the war to use for hunting. After my father passed away, I handed it down to my son.

Thank you for the video recommendation. This is what I now additionally know: The stock has the dark wood dial rods through it on the barrel guard and in the bolt cut out, which the guy said Radom did to their stocks for structural strength. Like I said, it's scrubbed, so it was sent to Spain for the Spanish Civil War, whether directly or most likely indirectly from another country. Nothing matches except the front sight, which is pretty odd. My rifle also has a straight bolt, either from a wz29 or an earlier made polish rifle. The bolt has a polish eagle stamped on it, with another faint stamp under it which I can not identify. The stock is a plain kbk98 stock, it just has the bar for the sling cut out on the side. Although, right behind the sling bar is a marking that looks like 2 triangles put together, with the points of the 2 triangles make a diamond shape. I have no idea what this stamp is, it could be from another country. I tried looking up Radom rifles made in different years and looked at their serial numbers. I actually found a rifle that was a couple hundred numbers off, and it was made in 1928 or 1929. My serial number is 13687 k98. Those are the only markings on the receiver. The Radom stock and most likely Radom serial number leads me to believe that I have a Radom made kbk98. Whether this rifle was made all from parts to be sent to Spain, or it just happened to have no serial numbers match and then was sent to Spain, I'm assuming that my rifle was made between 1928-1931 by Radom. Thank you for you help.

Also, where can you get a polish mauser bayonet? I can't find any and the one's I can find are 'sold out' or like $600.

I recently bought a Polish Mauser KBK98/K98az (the first variant), but the receiver is scrubbed from being in the Spanish Civil War, or at least sent to Spain. It has wear and was definitely used, it has a bit of rust and pitting, and not parts on the rifle match at all. The only parts that match are the receiver and the front sight piece. Although it has a mint barrel with a mint bore, so at some point the barrel was replaced. I tried looking up the serial number on the receiver and I found a rifle with a similar serial number made in 1929 in Radom, but I can''t exactly figure out when mine was made. Since nothing matches except the front sight, it also could be a parts rifle that was thrown together to be sold to Spain for their war. Can anyone help me out with some info?

Thanks for the information. I have a 1931 Radom but the stock doesn't have a sling attachment on the left side like yours does. On the left side of the receiver it is stamped "247" and "K98". I've owned it for about 30 years and appears to be all original. Most metal parts have light pitting. I've shot it, but it's been years. Any additional information you could provide would be appreciated. Thanks!

Hey, i have one of these, can you show me the stamp that shows the date of manufacturing? The rifle was reworked many years ago after he cracked the stock. So all the fancey fittings are gone. It is now the family deer rifle, not interested in selling, but would like to know more about it.

I'm glad you mentioned that the stock was birch. I was wondering about that when I got one
@joshp2542 11-08-2019 12:35
I picked up one of these with no crest at all. Just says k98 on the side and the 4 digit serial number(under 5k). I think too mine is in a czech stock because it has both infantry and cavalry slings. It looks just like the first rifle you showed with a shorter bayonet lug. And it is 8mm. Has a polish front sight made for a cap. No stacking hook. Its also a bent bolt handle. Numbers on the bolt match the receiver but doesnt match the numbers on the stock. Rifling is really good. Has set screws one the regular screws. Milled metal parts not stamped. Anyone know?

I've shot the k29 and loved it. Very handy and was a little rough looking but I would bet on it.

I know its been several years but if your still around id like to ask a question. I recently purchased a "sporterized non marked k98 i believe its the gun farthest from you in the video because it has the same front sight but my question is whether or not i could purchase a german k98 stock and have that work? I found a decently priced walnut reproduction but im concerned it wont work because it looks like the polish handguard uses more wood on the handguard around the rear sight. I know its kind of difficult without more details but i hope you can possibly give me an idea on where to start.
@jmac5009 23-05-2019 14:19
I bought a mauser that has 1916 danzig on the receiver along with gew 98 and its in wz29 configuration. Would it be safe to assume that it was a conversion?

Hats off to you for mentioning the 1920 War. A lot of people have no idea about it outside of Eastern Europe eveb though it was the soviets first major defeat. Nice video.
