First Look at the Second Season of True Detective (HBO)

The problem with True Detective: Season 2 is the people of TD:1. They wanted the same old artificially-plot driven series like in TD:1. So they lashed out like unemployed housewives when they didn't get that in TD:2 and their little minds couldn't handle. TD:2 is above mainstream Hollywood.

In hindsight, this trailer was the best part of season 2.

Season 1, was great because it focused on the detectives and the main story that was solid with a little filler.
Season 2, fell apart with a weak story and a trove of tropes because of a cast way too large and focusing on too much not even related to the case.
Season 3, see Season 1.

Interesting seeing Kelly Reilly play Jordan Semyon here after first seeing her in Yellowstone where her character is also infertile! While Jordan isn't as domineering as Beth Dutton she does show that same loyalty to Frank the way Beth is unwaveringly loyal to John Dutton but cool seeing her here.

Why is this recommended now? This was a terrible season also.

Why the fuck does every season of every show and movie have to suck. Spoiler alert stop reading If not scene it .. How come they never ever get away with the money it’s fucking dumb and the way that Vince Vaughn got killed was the dumbest shit ever

If only the show was as good as this trailer.

Was there ever a reasonable explanation about the point blank shotgun cliffhanger were Colin faral was just a little under the weather next episode?the way it was portrayed was within 10'without body armor?or he nonchalantly pulls the armour off without him ever letting on to the audience it was there?Was fukn hoaki the whole way but Rachel helps along any show

O thank God I thought this was a continuation of the 2nd season,didn't hold a candle to the first

Ralph machio and nick cage season 3

I know people didn't like this season like at all but you have to admit this was a fantastic tralier

The female cop is as little too stupid -- all id driven with no checks or balances - no insight or self awareness nothing to modulate her actions -- treats everyone like shit - writers went all black with her (no gray) - no balance, not a thread of humanity, not even any humor - kind of ruins the show because her bad choices are so obvious they make you cringe. Stupid then rubs off on the male cop making the movie one great big downer in the end. Basically, major plot developments are driven by stupidity all the way through. To me that's not good writing; need something to happen? have a major character act like an idiot. No thanks.

Vaughn though was great. Immensely watchable. Otherwise a great big waste of time.

If only the second season was as good as the trailer was! The song is fantastic and should have set the tone...but instead "True Detective" was ruined in it's second season, by a rushed and half-backed storyline, uncooked scripts, Vince Vaughan and Justin Lin...as well, Taylor Kitch's character was unnecessary and could have easily been cut out of the show. Collin Farell and Rachel McAdams were enough.
