HBO 1983 Opening Credits

I remember seeing this at 6 years old in 1983.

I really miss this. I now have a multitude of channels or streaming services and I a get what I want when I want. I long for the days that was not possible. In the early days I didn't even have a VCR and I would scrutinize the HBO tv guide. I'd mark with my yellow highlighting pen the shows I wanted to watch. It is nice to have everything at your fingertips: it is sad to be so easily entertained with no effort on the part of the viewer.

The 80s was the greatest time to be alive as a kid! It was the absolute best and I absolutely miss those amazing days!!!!!!!!!!!

Man this is so nostalgic from the start to finish they have to bring it back!!!!!

I clearly remember this from the summer of 1999 when we went to Texas. I miss that time so much. I was 6 years old.

Here from HBO max; started Dan Soder comedy special and this started playing. 46yro Instantly transported and had to google “who wrote HBO intro theme”…here I am. lol, awesome to see I’m not the only one. Cheers 🍻

Whenever they used that intro the movie was awesome.

Do u remember it was like April fools or something and they did this actual feature presentation but all low budget..the HBO logo was spinning on a string?..😂anyone?

I just watched this and I felt like time traveled back into my parents apartment home sitting in front of our 20 inch color tv about to watch Commando or Rambo 😢 These were some great times..

This intro's use faded around 1987-1990... around 2002 stayed in a hotel with HBO (Sunday night)... turned on the set and noticed 'Star Wars - Episode 1: The Phanom Menace was premiering... now I hadn't seen this intro in probably 10 years and I sat on the bed and wondered...[HBO always saved this intro for the REALLY special features...I wonder if...] and sure enough, '...the man adjusted the cable box on top of the TV and sat down with his wife and kids...'] I screamed, laughed, cried and nearly messed myself - it was like some guy was in the main control room at HBO, possibly a 'Star Wars' geek, and said, "F-it,... it's time to bring the BIG DOG BACK OUT!"

It would be awesome if HBO used this opening all day on Monday and when looking up at the sky the solar eclipse appeared and the HBO logo would appear underneath or next to it.

This intro meant you were apart of something great that was about to happen. It digs deep into the hearts of children and makes you feel important somehow.

Who remembers HBO Thursday Night Prime!

Another GREAT example of "they don't make things like they used to". I mean, no one would bother, even with CGI.

I CGI. Just models, lasers, and a pumped up soundtrack. Epic. I really miss that opening!
