My 6-year-old self could still smell the second hand smoke coming through the freezing cold air conditioner on a sticky hot summer night in the early '80s ❤

He walked over and flipped the HBO decoder box on. Who remembers those? I also remember my Grandmothers sister using tinfoil wrapped around the cable wire going into her TV to pull in a really bad picture from HBO without the box. She died in 1980.

Christ, this brings back memories. It was a RARE and special treat to see this if'n Your house was lucky enough to have an HBO subscription in the early/mid 80s.

This takes me back to when my father (a computer engineer) rigged up a homemade antenna using a Folgers coffee can, attached it to the top of our chimney, and pirated HBO. I watched this intro many nights until one day when two guys in black suits knocked on the door and asked what that was on the top of the chimney. My dad took it down. No joke, that is actually a true story.
