Now, ladies and mentlegen, behold the absolute stinkburger of a sore loser by the name of Thomas Hurley III. He's got a bad attitude, a snotty voice, AND he's unjustly accusing Jeopardy! of "cheating him" [sic].

So, I decided to revisit this video after seeing Skyler Hornback's big-time glow-up.

Phonetics mattered in 2013, and phonetics still matter today.

CNN made this a much bigger deal than it actually was. Thomas wouldn’t have won even if he got it right (unless Skyler pulled a Cliff Clavin)

They could have talked about Skyler’s impressive $66,600 win. Not many Jeopardy! players win that much in one game

But Skyler will be back for the Jeopardy! Invitational Tournament this year, so we’ll see if his trivial skills have improved over the past 12 years

The rules are pretty fair. they actually do not penalize misspelling the word so long as the pronunciation remains largely unchanged. for example, if you spell something phonetically but forget a silent letter or something along those lines, you are not penalized. you can also pronounce something incorrectly as long as you don't add an extra consonant, or syllable or something like that.

Jeopardy has never had a kids week since then. Kids can’t handle disappointment as well as adults can.

Hold on. On regular (adult) Jeopardy, they do not penalize for spelling errors in Final. Why a different standard for the kid version?
