If you've ever been out on a cold sunny just after freshly fallen snow there is dead quietness all around. It is actually quite beautiful & after walking a spell when you stop & don't move you can hear everything. Usually your heartbeat from inside your ears & once your breathing comes to a rested state I swear you can hear some of your blood rushing through veins. I've been around wild foxes after they've had a litter of kits. Their senses are turned up to eleven & hearing is especially acute. Any noise at all from you, like putting your hand in your pocket & they are gone. Always amazes me to see this. But then one trip I met a wildlife photographer & he shattered the dream I had carried all my life. They often stage these entire shootings. where they have in the can by lunchtime.

It's just amazing, the perfect jumps, so precise and scary (if you are a mouse), and at the same times a bit awkward and cutie when you see him with only his butt and fluffy tail up, and then getting out with nothing and arrgh, damned, missed it again. So you feel so proud for him and so bewildered when he gets out with poor mouse in the mouth, sounds like a magic trick
