You only have words on a screen to go off of, without non-verbal and verbal cues. If someone is in a defensive mindset, they’ll subconsciously intercept texts in a negative tone.

Imagine how many misunderstandings that end up turning into fights between friends and couples that go down every day just like this. For me its usually women this happens with. A text meant to be sarcastic or a joke gets taken the wrong way and all the sudden we're yelling at each other over the phone 🤦
